SUMMARY:Environmental Conference 2024
DESCRIPTION:The Emerging Energy Transition: Risks and Opportunities for Western Public Lands\nThe Andrus Center will host its next Environmental Conference on the Boise State University campus Tuesday\, April 16th\, 2024. This day-long conference will delve into how best to enable energy transitions on public lands in Idaho and across the West. \nPublic Lands are an important setting because the entire West is part of an interconnected grid and the abundance of wind and solar resources on Idaho’s public lands bring both challenges and opportunities for the state and the region. What can be done to foster energy affordability and reliability\, drive innovation\, build equitable infrastructure\, and ensure that place-based solutions are to the state’s benefit? We look forward to diving into these issues together\, to help to inform the rapid energy transformation underway. \nRegistration for the full-day in-person event is $100. Click here to Register. \n\nDiscounted Student tickets are available but limited. Apply early for a student scholarship by completing the online request form.

SUMMARY:Idaho Power to host virtual meetings on wildfire safety and public safety power shutoffs
DESCRIPTION:As Idaho Power prepares for wildfire season\, the company is hosting three virtual meetings in early June to discuss measures it is taking to keep communities safe from wildfire\, and help customers prepare in case of a public safety power shutoff (PSPS) or other outage. \nA PSPS is when an electrical utility like Idaho Power proactively turns off power to an area when wildfire risk is high due to extreme weather. It is one of many efforts Idaho Power can take to keep communities safe. Other safety measures that could cause outages include limiting the automatic re-energization of lines to help prevent sparks. \nThis is the company’s third summer with a PSPS plan in place. Idaho Power has never had to call a PSPS event but encourages all customers to be prepared for potential outages\, regardless of the cause.  \nBelow is the schedule for the virtual meetings. \n\nJune 4 from 6-7 pm\nJune 5 from 6-7 pm\nJune 6 from 6-7 pm\n\nCheck idahopower.com/wildfire for links to join.
